This is the second teaser image of the all-new Amarok, expected in 2022, and it follows the rough sketch released by Volkswagen about year ago.
Right off the bat, we can see that a few things have changed. Most notably, the mid-section of the front bumper and grille have a slightly cleaner design, and plastic cladding has appeared on the outer edges of the skid plate that otherwise still has a cutout in the middle for the winch.

Metal trim adorns the side skirts, the doors have real handles and the mirrors, with integrated turn signals, are wider, whereas further back, a bed bar has appeared, alongside what seems to be a black bed cover. A pair of LED lights was added to the roof, between the rails, and the wheels, wrapped in all-terrain tires, look more realistic. The illustration also provides a tiny glimpse inside, though nothing is visible beyond the headrests and a grab handle on the A-pillar.
Built around the T7 platform, alongside the new generation Ford Ranger as part of a partnership announced by the two companies nearly two years ago, the 2022 Amarok will look different than its North American sibling, as evidenced by the official sketches.
As Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ Chairman of the Management Board, Carsten Intra, said at the annual press conference, “it’s not going to be just a fantastic pickup; it’s going to be a genuine Volkswagen too – with clear DNA in both technology and design”.
