Ken Block’s Ford Mustang Hoonicorn is absolutely insane and not only is it perfect for Gymkhana, but it is also extraordinarily quick in a straight-line. Can a tuned Audi RS3 keep up with it?
This particular RS3 has been comprehensively modified and is running a 72 mm turbocharger, alongside a host of other engine upgrades, which result in it delivering approximately 1,100 hp. As if that wasn’t enough, it is running on a set of specialty drag radial tires and can run the quarter-mile in the mid-8-second range.
In the first race, Block’s Hoonicorn is running on a set of street legal Toyota R888R tires, putting it at a bit of disadvantage to the RS3. Even so, Block is able to absolutely nail the launch and eventually wins the race by a car length over the RS3. Despite the result, the Audi performed significantly better than a McLaren Senna did against the Hoonicorn.
For the second race, Block’s team fitted a set of Toyo Proxes TQ drag radial tires. However, despite the stickier tires, it was the Audi that got off the line quicker than the Hoonicorn, shifting through the gears at extraordinary speeds and winning by a couple of car lengths.
Not willing to accept defeat, Block had his team amped up the tune in the Hoonicorn for the third race and, thus, were able to beat the Audi by roughly four car lengths. A fourth race was also held and while we won’t ruin the result of it, you might be left a little surprised with what happened.
